Quantum Error Correction (QEC) Engineer

Description

We are seeking a Quantum Error Correction (QEC) Engineer to support the development and evaluation of quantum error correction strategies for next-generation quantum hardware. In this role, you will work closely with physicists, device engineers, and software teams to model, simulate, and analyse QEC protocols tailored to Diraq’s silicon-based quantum processors.

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

• PhD or MSc in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline
• Foundational knowledge of quantum error correction or quantum information theory
• Strong programming skills in Python or similar scientific computing languages (e.g. NumPy, SciPy)
• Solid grounding in mathematics, linear algebra, and numerical methods
• Experience with simulation, modelling, or data analysis in a scientific or research context
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment

Preferred (Desirable) Experience

• Familiarity with solid-state or silicon-based quantum computing systems
• Exposure to QEC frameworks or simulation tools (e.g. Stim, Qiskit, Cirq, or equivalent)
• Understanding of noise modelling and error characterisation in quantum systems
• Experience or coursework in semiconductor physics or condensed matter systems
