Anything Environmental is looking for an experienced, hands-on Area Manager to oversee our established recycling centres in Airlie Beach and Proserpine.

This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for someone who is visible on site, works alongside their team when required, takes ownership of the day-to-day operation and has the drive to help our depots continue to succeed and grow.

You will be responsible for the performance, safety, staff and daily operations of both Whitsunday locations and will report directly to the Directors.

About the Role

As Area Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the day-to-day operations of both the Airlie Beach and Proserpine depots

• Leading, supervising and supporting depot staff

• Being visible and hands-on across both sites

• Ensuring container material is accurately counted, sorted and processed

• Managing staffing requirements, rosters, attendance and day-to-day staff issues

• Maintaining a strong focus on workplace health and safety

• Conducting regular toolbox talks, workplace inspections and safety checks

• Ensuring company procedures and operational standards are followed

• Managing cash handling and ensuring appropriate cash-control procedures are maintained

• Completing required daily paperwork, administration and reporting

• Supporting our commercial customers through communication, education and feedback

• Building relationships with existing commercial customers

• Identifying opportunities to grow our commercial customer base

• Maintaining high standards of customer service and depot presentation

• Identifying operational issues and taking responsibility for getting them resolved

• Working closely with the Directors to continually improve the performance of both sites

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Previous experience managing staff and day-to-day operational issues

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• A positive, practical and hands-on management style

• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety

• The confidence to address staff performance and workplace issues when required

• Good organisational and administration skills

• Cash-handling experience

• The ability to work independently and take ownership of your area

• Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic

• A genuine drive and passion to help the business succeed

• Strong community spirit and the ability to build relationships with customers and local businesses

• A current driver's licence - Manual

• Forklift licence is an advantage, or you must be willing to obtain one

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a self-starter who is safety-conscious, honest, reliable and results-driven.

You need to be comfortable making decisions, managing people and being accountable for the performance of your sites.

Most importantly, we want someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. When the depots are busy, we expect our managers to be on the floor supporting their team — not managing from behind a desk.

Hours

This is a full-time management position, based across our Airlie Beach and Proserpine locations.

The position is based on 38 ordinary hours per week, with reasonable additional hours as required.

Weekend work forms part of the role, with every second Saturday generally required for approximately five hours, depending on operational requirements.
