Community Lunch Host

As a Community Lunch Host, you'll be one of the first friendly faces participants see when they arrive at our monthly Community Lunch. Your role is to help create a welcoming, organised and enjoyable experience by greeting participants, signing them in, checking attendance records and assisting new participants to complete registration forms where required. You'll also encourage participants to complete surveys and feedback forms when requested, helping North East Community House continue to improve our programs and demonstrate the positive impact they have within the community.

Throughout the lunch, you'll provide practical support to help ensure everyone feels comfortable and cared for. This may include assisting participants to find a seat, offering tea, coffee or water, answering general questions, helping participants access the meal service where needed and responding to simple requests throughout the session. You'll work closely with staff and other volunteers to help the day run smoothly, remain aware of participants who may require additional assistance and notify staff of any concerns or support needs. Your role is not to provide personal care, but to create a welcoming and well-organised environment where participants feel respected, valued and supported.

The Community Lunch Host plays an important role in the overall success of this program. By ensuring participants are warmly welcomed, attendance and registrations are managed efficiently and everyone's practical needs are met, you'll help create a positive experience that encourages people to return each month. Your support allows staff to focus on delivering the program while helping participants feel comfortable from the moment they arrive until they leave. Through your kindness, organisation and willingness to help, you'll contribute to a program that eases cost-of-living pressures, reduces social isolation and creates opportunities for people to connect, build friendships and feel part of a caring community.
