Bar Manager

About the role

The Bar Manager will work within a fast-paced, high-volume environment that services a diverse customer base across multiple venues associated with Merrylands RSL. The role is responsible for managing multiple food and beverage outlets, including bar, dining, and function spaces, and is accountable for service quality, staff training, customer satisfaction, operational compliance, and entertainment planning.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across bar and lounges, Signatures buffet bar, Sage 2160 and bar, and Event Spaces
• Lead by example to maintain high service standards and a strong customer-centric culture
• Plan and book entertainment activities for bar and dining venues
• Train and supervise team members to ensure a productive and skilled workforce
• Work closely with marketing to coordinate and update promotions
• Respond to guest needs and complaints, and apply effective service recovery strategies
• Review guest satisfaction and implement improvements where necessary
• Manage staff rosters, delegate responsibilities, and monitor performance
• Control inventory and ensure stock levels, requisitions, and quality control
• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, food safety, WHS and ESG practices

About you

• Diploma in Management Studies or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Bar Manager or similar supervisory role within the hospitality industry
• Exceptional customer service skills with strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Teamwork and leadership capability, with the ability to support and mentor others
• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, high-volume service settings
• Operational flexibility and willingness to assist in other positions when required
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Current RSA certification (New South Wales)
