Senior | Principal Engineer – WA Client & Project Lead

Rockfield Technologies Australia is recruiting for a senior Perth-based appointment to help shape the next stage of our Western Australian resources business. We welcome applications from Senior or Principal Engineers with strong client and project leadership.

We are looking for a Perth-based engineer who combines client credibility with project leadership. This is not a pure business development role, and it is not a conventional delivery-only position. The opportunity is intended for someone who enjoys creating work, building long-term client relationships and remaining accountable for the successful delivery of the projects that follow.

About the opportunity

The role is expected to have an equal focus on client engagement and opportunity development, alongside project delivery and commercial

management. Selective technical direction or delivery may form part of the role where it aligns with the successful candidate’s strengths, but it is not the primary purpose of the appointment.

Key responsibilities across client development, project delivery and commercial management will include:

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with existing and prospective WAresources clients.

• Generate opportunities through regular client engagement, market intelligence and identification of client needs.

• Lead or support project scoping, fee development, proposals and commercial discussions.

• Be accountable for an annualised WA project portfolio building to $2.5million or more, with the scale shaped by the candidate’s capability and thesupport available.

• Coordinate Rockfield’s national technical specialists and engineers to deliverpractical, fit-for-purpose outcomes.

• Maintain clear control of scope, program, budget, risk, client communication, variations, invoicing and project close-out.

• Contribute directly to Rockfield’s WA revenue, pipeline and repeat-work objectives.

Who we would like to meet

The final title and technical focus may be tailored to the successful candidate’s experience and capabilities. A mechanical engineering background is preferred; however, strong structural candidates are also encouraged to apply, particularly those with established WA client relationships and a demonstrated ability to develop and manage consulting work.

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering.

• Approximately 10 or more years’ experience in mining, resources, heavy industry or associated engineering consulting.

• Demonstrated ability to build credible relationships with operational, engineering and project stakeholders.

• Experience managing multiple engineering projects, competing priorities and commercial outcomes.

• Experience contributing to opportunity generation, client growth, proposal development or project scoping.

• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and commercial judgement.

• Perth based, with willingness to undertake occasional local and WA sitetravel.

• Existing Australian working rights.

Highly valued

• Experience working on both the asset-owner/client side and consulting side.

• Established relationships across the Western Australian gold sector.

• A WA resources network and evidence of converting trusted relationships into opportunities and repeat work.

• Brownfield, sustaining-capital, asset-integrity, maintenance or operational-improvement experience.

• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary or geographically distributedteams.

• Mechanical engineering capability, or structural capability that helps strengthen Rockfield’s current WA offering.

• Bulk materials handling or DEM experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
