About the role

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident in the kitchen, organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a busy café kitchen. You'll work closely with management and be an important part of delivering great food and experiences for locals, visitors, tour groups and events.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking café meals
• Food preparation and kitchen setup
• Maintaining food quality and presentation
• Staff rostering
• Ordering and maintaining food stock
• Monitoring stock levels and reducing wastage
• Ensuring appropriate food storage and rotation
• Reviewing menus and discussing new ideas with management
• Assisting with menus for events and special functions
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen

About you

• Previous kitchen and cooking experience – essential
• Confidence working independently in a commercial kitchen
• Experience with food preparation and service
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• Experience or confidence with stock ordering and stock control
• Ability to organise staff and kitchen rosters
• Strong understanding of kitchen cleanliness and food safety
• Ability to work calmly during busy service periods
• A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a broader team
• Availability to work weekends, including weekend evenings
