BASQ Essendon Fields is growing our Front of House team and we're looking for confident, experienced hospitality professionals who genuinely know good service.

We are currently recruiting for:

• Experienced Waitstaff
• Experienced Hostess

These positions are best suited to people who already understand how a busy restaurant operates, can read a room, stay organised under pressure and know what great hospitality looks and feels like.

We're looking for polished, confident waitstaff who can comfortably manage their own section and provide attentive, professional service from start to finish.

You should be experienced in:

• Full table service in a busy restaurant environment

• Managing your own section confidently

• Sequence of service

• Taking accurate food and beverage orders

• Menu knowledge and confidently explaining dishes to guests

• Food and beverage upselling without being pushy

• Clearing, resetting and preparing tables efficiently

• Carrying multiple plates and working at a good pace

• Communicating effectively with the kitchen, bar and floor team

• Recognising when a guest needs attention without needing to be directed

• Maintaining high presentation and service standards throughout a shift

• Handling busy lunch and dinner services calmly and professionally

Wine, cocktail and steakhouse knowledge would be highly regarded.

A current RSA is required for team members serving alcohol.

We're also looking for a warm, highly organised and experienced Hostess to help manage the guest experience from the moment customers arrive.

This is not simply a door-greeting position.

You will play an important role in the smooth running of the restaurant and will be responsible for:

• Warmly welcoming and acknowledging guests

• Managing arrivals and reservations

• Seating guests efficiently and appropriately

• Understanding table allocations and restaurant flow

• Communicating with the floor team regarding arrivals and table status

• Managing waiting guests during busy periods

• Answering basic guest and booking enquiries

• Preparing and resetting tables between bookings

• Ensuring tables and surrounding areas are always presentation-ready

• Assisting the floor team where required

• Farewelling guests and helping create a polished overall experience

You need to be confident speaking with customers, extremely well presented, observant and able to stay composed when several things are happening at once.

Previous restaurant hosting, reservations or senior Front of House experience is strongly preferred.

For both positions, we're looking for people who:

• Have solid previous experience in a quality restaurant, bistro, steakhouse or busy hospitality venue

• Understand professional restaurant service

• Are confident, friendly and naturally hospitable

• Are reliable and punctual

• Take pride in their personal presentation

• Notice what needs doing and take initiative

• Work well as part of an established team

• Can handle busy services without becoming flustered

• Are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

• Are looking for ongoing work rather than a short-term position

Weekend availability is essential, including Friday and Saturday evenings.

Availability across some weekday lunches and dinners will also be highly regarded.

BASQ is an established Essendon Fields restaurant with a strong focus on quality food, premium steaks, functions and warm, professional hospitality.
