Above Umberto Espresso Bar is a gem of a summer rooftop bar, with an amazing signature cocktail experience, and phenomenal views. We seek an inspired, passionate Bartender to assist in operating the rooftop with a creative focus on getting guests in, and keeping them with top-tier service and high quality drinks and food.

We’re looking for an energetic, passionate Rooftop Bartender / Supervisor to join our ambitious team and help shape the experience of one of Melbourne’s most exciting rooftop bars. This is a role for someone who genuinely loves hospitality and sees the bar as more than just a place to make drinks. We’re looking for a creative bartender who understands how cocktails, presentation, atmosphere and service come together to create a rooftop experience guests want to return to. You’ll work closely with the Venue Manager and rooftop team to develop a drinks offering that is fun, creative, commercially successful and completely connected to the personality of the venue. The role This is a hands-on bar role with a strong creative focus. You’ll be behind the bar during service, while also helping shape what the bar looks, feels and tastes like. We want someone who gets excited about developing drinks, testing ideas and creating cocktails that guests associate with the rooftop. You’ll be responsible for:

• Creating and developing creative, commercially viable cocktails that sell the rooftop experience
• Working closely with the Venue Manager and rooftop team to develop and evolve the drinks offering
• Bringing new ideas to the table around cocktails, presentation, service and the overall guest experience
• Understanding what guests want and translating that into drinks that are exciting, approachable and profitable
• Testing, refining and championing new cocktails with the team
• Maintaining exceptional standards of cocktail execution and presentation
• Being hands-on during busy service and setting the pace from behind the bar
• Creating an energetic, welcoming and memorable experience for guests
• Helping develop a strong beverage culture within the rooftop team
• Opening and closing the venue and maintaining high bar standards
• Staying curious about drinks, hospitality and emerging trends

What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone with personality, creativity and a genuine obsession with great hospitality. You’ll ideally have:

• Solid experience bartending in a busy, quality-driven venue
• Strong cocktail and beverage knowledge
• A creative mind and a genuine interest in cocktail development
• An understanding of what makes a drink sell, not just what makes it technically impressive
• A strong sense of presentation, flavour and balance
• The ability to collaborate, communicate ideas and work creatively with a team
• Confidence working in a fast-paced rooftop environment
• Excellent attention to detail and MUST be organised and a strong communicator
