We are one of 18 water corporations operating and reporting to the State Government of Victoria.

We are responsible for servicing 23,688 customers from 27 townships across an area covering 300 square kilometres, encompassing Millowl (Phillip Island) and mainland communities from The Gurdies to Archies Creek.

The region has one of the highest ratios of visitors to residents of any destination in Australia. During peak periods, there can be approximately 120 visitors to every resident.

GIS & Data Support Office- Ongoing, Full Time

Band 4- $70,414-$90,604

Westernport Water are seeking a skilled and motivated Data & GIS Support Officer to support the effective management, maintenance and use of our data, business systems, integration platforms and Geographic Information System (GIS).

This role would suit a GIS or spatial data professional, as well as candidates with transferable technical experience gained in utilities or other asset-intensive environments. Experience working with AutoCAD, databases, asset information, or data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau would be highly regarded, as these skills provide a strong foundation for the role. Key Responsibilities Areas:

• Support the maintenance, quality and effective use of corporate data, GIS and business systems, ensuring accurate, reliable information is available for operational, legislative and reporting requirements.
• Maintain and administer the corporate GIS, including spatial and asset information, and provide maps, asset plans, spatial analysis and other GIS products to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support data validation, cleansing, reconciliation and improvement activities, including the implementation of the Asset Management Information System (AMIS) and development of facility and infrastructure asset management plans.
• Assist business teams with data analysis, reporting, dashboards, information requests and data outputs to support decision-making and reporting requirements.
• Develop and support GIS user training, guidance materials, reports, data processes and procedures to build capability and promote effective use of corporate systems and information.
• Support asset management activities, including cost-effective preventative maintenance, asset condition and asset renewal schedules and programs.
• Provide high-quality customer service and system support, including responding to GIS and data queries and preparing Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) information and water and sewer block plans for contractors, clients, developers and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with employees, business stakeholders, consultants and technology providers to deliver system and data improvements, while managing competing priorities, meeting timeframes and supporting a safety-first and continuous improvement culture in accordance with Westernport Water's OH&S, Environmental and Asset Management Systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant qualification or demonstrated experience in GIS, geomatics, spatial science, data analytics, information systems, asset management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience supporting data management, reporting, asset information and data quality activities within an operational environment. Experience working within a public sector, government or regulated industry environment is highly regarded.
• Experience with data visualisation and analysis tools such as Power BI or Tableau, together with proficiency in SQL and Excel, and exposure to AutoCAD is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business users and stakeholders, provide quality technical support and contribute to continuous improvement of data and information management practices.
• Current driver's licence suitable for Victoria.

• Relevant GIS qualification or demonstrated experience maintaining spatial datasets and producing accurate maps and spatial outputs; experience with OpenSpatial (Munsys/Enlighten/ACDC), QGIS or ArcGIS Pro is highly regarded.
• Experience supporting business systems, data quality, reporting and information management, with the ability to collect, validate, analyse and present data for operational and business decision-making.
• Proficiency in data visualisation and analysis tools such as Power BI or Tableau, SQL and Excel; exposure to AutoCAD is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support business users, explain technical information clearly, learn and support multiple systems, and identify opportunities to improve data practices and business processes
