Finance Assistant

Retirees WA Inc. is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to support our Finance department with the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. This is a Full Time position, based in our corporate office in Salter Point.

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial management, supporting compliance obligations, and contributing to the smooth operation of our aged care services.

What You'll Be Doing:

• undertake clerical duties related to accounts payable including but not limited to:

  • validating invoices with vendors, ensure correct application of GST, etc.

  • managing credit notes, payables/receivables items, investigation of and adjustment to any billing anomalies

  • overseeing vendor payment runs and the application of internal accounting controls

• monitor and manage outstanding accounts receivable

• prepare and review general ledger reconciliations including bank accounts, clearing accounts, petty cash, debit cards and inter-company balances

• maintain reconciliation schedules and maintaining a state of audit-readiness

• assist the team with preparation of routine and month-end journals

• assist with preparation of miscellaneous reports

• assist the team and Senior Officers in general, as required

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance role in Australia, ideally within aged care, retirement living, health or community services

• Relevant qualification e.g. Certificate IV or similar

• Strong reconciliation skills and high attention to detail

• Experience using Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel

• Sound understanding of Australian payroll, superannuation and compliance requirements

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance, People & Culture and operational teams

Selection Criteria:

• Current National Police Clearance

• Demonstrated experience in accounts payable/receivable and reconciliations

• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
