About the role
About Lakeside College
Lakeside College is a thriving Prep to 12 co-educational Christian school established in the Lutheran tradition. Situated in the rapidly growing community of Pakenham, our campus features excellent facilities in a welcoming, picturesque environment. We are dedicated to nurturing students within a supportive community underpinned by Christian values and holistic development.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and organised Property and Facility Manager to join our operational leadership team.
Reporting directly to the Business Manager, this critical role oversees the professional upkeep, asset management, and daily safety profile of our entire school estate. The position blends strategic facilities planning with on-the-ground execution. This is not just an office job. You will continue to use your construction and trade skills directly.
You will directly manage one staff member (the Groundskeeper/Maintenance Person) while maintaining the school's physical environment to the highest institutional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Asset & Maintenance Planning: Design, deploy, and execute a comprehensive cyclical and preventative maintenance framework across all school infrastructure.
Asset & Property Maintenance: In addition to asset and maintenance planning, physical delivery of maintenance and construction projects is required.
Emergency Management: Serve as the school’s designated Chief Warden, taking decisive operational command of campus emergency evacuations, containment protocols, and lockdowns.
Team Supervision: Guide, task, and support the daily workflow of our Groundskeeper/Maintenance Person to achieve optimal productivity.
Contractor Governance: Act as the primary interface for external trades and specialist contractors, managing structural safety compliance and holiday project delivery.
Digital Operations & Reporting: Apply robust IT competencies to generate executive facility updates, compliance tracking data, capital expenditure proposals, and budget forecasts.
Key Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Ethos Support: A clear commitment to upholding and actively supporting the Christian values and educational mission of the Lutheran Church.
Facilities Competence: Proven expertise in facilities management, commercial estate operations, or project logistics, preferably inside an educational context.
Trade Expertise: Background or qualifications in a recognized building trade (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical) are highly welcomed.
Emergency Resilience: Documented capability to think clearly and assert command during unexpected crisis scenarios or building emergencies.
Technical Literacy: Advanced IT capability to manipulate operational spreadsheets, manage maintenance software pipelines, and write professional administrative recommendations.
Mandatory Role Requirements
Relevant vocational or tertiary qualifications in Facilities Management, Construction, or a recognised building trade qualification.
Valid, current Australian Driver's Licence.
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
Current First Aid certificate (or a willingness to obtain one swiftly upon appointment).
Child Safety Statement
Lakeside College is committed to being a Child Safe organisation with zero tolerance for child abuse. All applicants must undergo rigorous screening, identity verification, reference checks, and criminal history checks. The successful appointee will be required to strictly understand, uphold, and implement the College's Child Safety Code of Conduct and related protection policies at all times.
