Mechanic

About the role

West Coast Mobile Mechanics are seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our team in Forestdale, WA. This full-time role will see you working on-site at our customers' locations, providing high-quality mobile automotive repair and maintenance services. You will be a key part of our mission to deliver exceptional service and ensure the safety and reliability of our clients' vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle issues using diagnostic tools to identify mechanical or electrical problems in vehicles, and perform visual and physical inspections to detect issues with engines, transmissions, brakes, and other critical systems
• Repair or replace faulty components such as brakes, engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, and electrical systems, and install new parts and components as needed
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and brake inspections, and replace air filters, spark plugs, belts, and other parts that wear out over time
• Conduct road tests and perform quality checks to ensure that repairs and maintenance have been done correctly, and test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure they are operating properly and meet safety standards
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues, repair options, and the estimated cost of repairs, and provide explanations about the services performed
• Keep accurate records of services, repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance performed, and maintain inventory of parts and tools
• Continuously update knowledge of new vehicle technologies and repair techniques
• Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workshop and use proper tools and equipment to perform repairs safely and effectively
• Collaborate with other mechanics, technicians, or service advisors when diagnosing and fixing complex issues, and work alongside automotive engineers or manufacturers' representatives when dealing with specific vehicle models or brands

About you

• Formal qualifications in Automotive Mechanics or a relevant recognised trade certification
• Previous and extensive experience on European cars (preferably VW/AUDI)
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified Mechanic, preferably in a mobile or workshop setting
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve complex vehicle issues
• Excellent customer service orientation and the ability to communicate technical information clearly
• A clean driving record and the ability to safely operate a fully-equipped service van
• Commitment to continuous learning and keeping up with industry developments
