Youth Leader / Instructor – Australian Army Cadets (South Australia)

Help develop the next generation of young Australians through leadership, adventure and mentoring. Flexible volunteer roles available across South Australia and Broken Hill.

**About the Australian Army Cadets - South Australia:**

The Australian Army Cadets (AAC) is a national youth development program for young people aged 12–18. In South Australia, more than 1,000 cadets participate across approximately 30 units in metropolitan and regional communities.

We are seeking Adult Cadet Staff (ACS) to support and deliver this program at the local level.

This is a flexible volunteer role — whether you enjoy mentoring, instructing, planning activities or supporting behind the scenes, there is a role for you.

Depending on your interests and availability, you may:

- Support weekly cadet parade nights at your local unit
- Teach or assist with activities such as navigation, fieldcraft, leadership or teamwork
- Mentor and guide young people as they develop confidence and resilience
- Support planning, logistics or administration within a unit
- Assist with camps, exercises and ceremonial events

Volunteers are the backbone of the cadet program — without them, these opportunities for youth simply would not exist.

No military experience is required. Training and support are provided.

Most Adult Cadet Staff contribute approximately 3-4 hours per week (typically one evening parade night)
Occasional weekend activities and one camp in the July or September school holidays (optional but encouraged).
There is also training that is provided once you are accepted into the program.

We recognise that availability varies, and roles can be tailored to suit your capacity and interests.

Defence Youth Protection Awareness Course, Defence Youth Safe Code of Conduct (Adult), Training on the IT system and all necessary skills to that you feel confident and capable to lead cadets in the program.
