About the role
To manage a portfolio of complex liability and legal claims within the Settlements department, achieving cost-effective, timely, and quality outcomes. This is achieved through expert evaluation, advanced negotiation, strategic legal management, and ensuring strict adherence to all internal procedures and regulatory obligations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manage a portfolio of complex and Legal claims driving timely and favourable outcomes.
Negotiate with third parties, insurers and Legal representatives including recovery agents and credit hire companies.
Evaluate liability and determine optimal settlement outcomes.
Manage relationships with our panel of assessors and Solicitors.
Adhere to our settlement methodology ensuring internal procedures and relevant legislation is adhered to.
Liaise with external Solicitors to manage claim defence and formulate strategic settlement offers.
Application of Australian Legal process and procedures.
Ensure strict adherence to the Insurance Contracts Act, the General Insurance Code of Practice, and all other relevant regulatory and compliance obligations.
EXPERIENCE
Insurance claims management experience
Experience managing complex insurance claims, particularly those involving litigation (highly desirable)
Demonstrated experience within related sectors, including debt recovery, insurance broking, or legal support roles (highly desirable)
Demonstrated experience applying the Insurance Contracts Act, the General Insurance Code of Practice, and other relevant regulatory and compliance obligations within a claims management environment (highly desirable)

Strong and effective decision-making skills.
Results-oriented with highly developed negotiation skills.
