Senior Design Manager

This is a uniquely strategic design role where your experience helps shape better project outcomes across our business. You'll provide independent design expertise at critical project stages, helping teams make informed decisions and navigate complex challenges before they impact delivery.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Design Manager, you'll provide expert design leadership and independent insight across tenders, ECI and live projects. You'll help project teams strengthen design outcomes, navigate complex issues and make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

In this role, you will:

• Review design documentation and provide technical insight across key project stages
• Identify opportunities to improve design outcomes, buildability and project performance
• Support teams in navigating complex design challenges and driving informed decision making
• Partner with internal teams and external consultants to strengthen design approaches
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design management processes across the business

This role is not embedded within a single project. Instead, you’ll work across the business as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance that strengthens design outcomes, reduces risk and supports successful project delivery.

What We Are Looking For

You bring a strong technical foundation, broad project experience and the ability to influence, mentor and guide others through complex design challenges.

You’ll likely bring:

• Significant experience in design management within commercial construction across multiple building typologies
• A background in architecture, engineering, or similar, with strong technical grounding
• A deep understanding of NCC, building codes and other legislative requirements
• A broad, holistic view of projects — beyond a single discipline
• The ability to influence and challenge constructively, even in complex or sensitive situations
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and diplomatic approach

This role suits someone who enjoys digging into detail, asking the right questions, and helping teams deliver better outcomes.
