About CareVicinity 

CareVicinity is a care technology platform that connects independent support workers directly with people seeking care at home, across aged care, disability and veterans’ support. Workers get the tools to choose their clients, set their rates and manage their schedule and payments; care seekers get access to vetted, insured local support workers. 

We’re still very much in startup mode – an established but small, fast-moving team building something that’s changing how care is accessed and delivered in Australia. About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced HR & Workplace Relations Specialist to join us, with a strong focus on employee relations, workplace relations and employment law.

You’ll work closely with the HR team and our leaders to provide practical advice on workplace matters, including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and other complex employee issues. You’ll also bring strong working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and modern awards, helping us make sure we’re doing things properly and staying ahead of legislative changes.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide specialist advice and support on employee and workplace relations matters, partnering with HR, managers and leaders across the business.
• Manage and advise on complex employee matters including performance, conduct, grievances, disciplinary processes, workplace complaints and terminations.
• Lead and support workplace investigations, ensuring matters are handled fairly, consistently and with appropriate procedural fairness.
• Provide practical guidance on the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, modern awards and other employment-related obligations.
• Monitor changes to employment legislation and workplace relations requirements and help translate these into practical changes across the business.
• Develop, review and strengthen HR policies, procedures, employment documentation and workplace practices.
• Coach and support managers to confidently navigate employee matters and difficult workplace conversations.
• Support performance management, employee engagement and retention initiatives across the broader HR function.
• Identify and help manage employment-related risk, recognising when matters require escalation or external legal advice.
• Maintain clear and appropriate documentation across employee relations and workplace matters.
• Work collaboratively with the different teams across key people initiatives and help continuously improve how we support our employees.

What We’re Looking For

• 3-5+ years’ experience across HR, employee relations or workplace relations, with demonstrated experience managing complex people matters.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian employment law, the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and modern awards.
• Hands-on experience across employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, grievances and disciplinary processes.
• Strong judgement and the ability to balance employee experience, legal obligations, risk and practical business needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion, fairness and professionalism.
• A collaborative approach – you’ll bring specialist expertise to the team without needing to own or manage the broader HR function.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, growing environment where there’s opportunity to improve, build and shape how things are done.

Nice To Have

• A legal background, legal studies or previous experience within employment law, workplace relations or a legal environment.
• Experience in aged care, home care, disability services or another regulated community services sector.
• Familiarity with the Aged Care Award, Home Care Award or SCHADS Award.
