Job Summary

The Rig Buyer plays a critical role in supporting offshore operations by managing the end-to-end procurement process for materials, services, and repairs. The primary focus of this role is to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement support to the rig, enabling uninterrupted operations and optimal performance. This position ensures commercial integrity, contractual compliance, and operational efficiency across all procurement activities. The Rig Buyer must demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external vendors. This role is essential to maintaining cost control, compliance, and operational readiness in offshore environments, with a strong commitment to supporting rig teams in real time.

Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Commercial Management: Conduct thorough commercial evaluations, ensuring alignment with existing pricing agreements and contractual standards. Negotiate terms when necessary and document all deviations and savings .
• Materials Procurement: Oversee automated sourcing, manage vendor negotiations, and collaborate with Global Sourcing to resolve pricing issues and enhance vendor performance.
• Order Management: Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems, coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, and resolve discrepancies in pricing, quantity, or quality.
• Repair & Return Tracking: Monitor the full lifecycle of repair items, from dispatch to return, including cost validation and communication with rig teams.
• Service Procurement: Ensure proper approvals and documentation for service labor, track technician movements, and maintain accurate service records and cost tracking.
• This role requires being on call outside of normal business hours to support emergency procurement needs and ensure real-time responsiveness to rig operations.
• The Rig Buyer is expected to respond swiftly to urgent orders and rig down situations, prioritizing critical needs to minimize downtime and support safe, continuous operations.
• Logistical Support – point of contact between vendors and logistics personnel for collection of equipment and monitoring of urgent orders being shipped to rig locations.
• Resolve queries relating to material receipt, invoices and purchase order discrepancies.

Education:

• Minimum Required: High School Diploma
• Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

• Minimum Required: 3 years of procurement and related industry experience required.
• Preferred Level: 5+ years of procurement and related industry experience required.

Skills:

• Minimum Required: Fundamental knowledge of company and regional supply chain procedures.
• Preferred Level: Fundamental knowledge of company and regional supply chain procedures and requirements. Keen awareness and attention to detail, knowledge of personal computers and software applications. Ability to multi-task in a high volume fast paced environment. Very good oral and written communication. Demonstrated initiative and understanding urgency of situations. Positive attitude and team player mind set.
