Academy Participant - Software Engineering Bootcamp

About the role

Academy Participant in the Deadly Coders Software Engineering Bootcamp — a 10-week intensive paid learning program combining face-to-face instruction, team-based project work and independent practice. You will be employed as a casual worker, paid for every hour you attend, and supported by First Nations mentors, cultural safety practitioners and industry-experienced facilitators throughout the program. The program runs Tuesday and Wednesday each week from 13 October 2026 at CBA's Sydney CBD offices, with structured self-directed study tasks to complete between sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Learn full-stack web development using TypeScript, React and Next.js

• Learn backend engineering with Node.js, REST APIs, PostgreSQL and DynamoDB

• Learn cloud and DevOps using AWS, Docker and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions

• Learn software testing and security including Jest, TDD, OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices

• Learn professional engineering practices including Agile, system design, observability and responsible AI use

• Complete a capstone project — a full-stack application built and presented live to CBA representatives in Week 10

About you

• You are based in Sydney or can commit to attending CBA's Sydney CBD offices every Monday and Tuesday across 10 weeks

• You have some prior technology experience or a relevant qualification — this could be a TAFE certificate, a school IT subject, self-taught coding experience, or participation in a STEM program

• You have a genuine interest in pursuing a software engineering career

• You are available to commence 13 October 2026 and can commit to the full 10-week program
