Program Officer

Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH) is a national, community-based organisation which is led by and for women from migrant and refugee backgrounds. We advocate and educate to strengthen the health, safety and leadership of migrant and refugee women and gender diverse people in Australia.

MCWH works together with migrant and refugee women, community organisations, health practitioners, employers, communities, and governments to build and share knowledge, achieve equity and improve health and wellbeing for migrant and refugee women and gender diverse people.

Position Objectives

MCWH’s vision is for migrant and refugee women, non-binary and gender diverse people to be free from all forms of discrimination, to have autonomy over their lives, and experience health equity, well-being and safety in society.

Working within a team of other program professionals, the Program Officer will implement a suite of projects to meet MCWH’s strategic objectives.

Organisational Relationships

Internal

The Program Officer reports directly to the Program Engagement Manager and is part of the Program Engagement Department in the Programs Pillar.

External

Victorian Women’s Health Services; relevant federal, state and local government departments; funding bodies; national, state and regional research; service delivery and policy bodies; media; community organisations; training clients; migrant and refugee women and gender diverse people.

Key Responsibilities

Program and Project Delivery

• Design, develop and implement program and project activities using best practice and fit-for-purpose project management approaches
• Facilitate effective communication of project progress among MCWH staff and project partners
• Conduct evaluation and monitoring activities, including working with other MCWH staff to monitor and implement project evaluation plans
• Represent MCWH and present project findings and other MCWH key messages on roundtables, consultations, working groups and conferences as required

Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage and collaborate strategically with partners and key stakeholders to build engagement with MCWH programs and projects
• Provide guidance and support to project partners and stakeholders to meet program and project deliverables

General Responsibilities

• Represent MCWH as externally required
• Prepare work reports as required
• Participate in planning, development and evaluation of the organisation
• Support the implementation of organisational activities organised by MCWH working groups, including responding to reasonable requests, training opportunities and surveys organised by MCWH working groups
• Develop workplan and participate in regular performance appraisals
• Other duties consistent with the role and as negotiated with the Program Engagement Manager

Selection Criteria

Essential

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in public health, health promotion, project management, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a program and/or project management role
• Demonstrated project coordination skills with the ability to implement projects and meet deliverables in accordance with agreed standards and timeframes
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement with a range of organisations and stakeholders of varying backgrounds
• High-level computer literacy and proficiency
• Highly developed understanding and knowledge of migrant and refugee women’s health from a feminist, intersectional perspective

Special Requirements

• Some evening or weekend work may be required from time to time
• MCWH operates according to a hybrid home/office working model

Salary & Conditions

• SCHADS Award Level 6 pay point 1-3
• Salary packaging is available, with a benefit of up to $15,900 per annum
• Additional leave entitlements:
• 5 weeks annual leave for up to 5 years’ service and 6 weeks thereafter
• 3 days ex-gratia leave between Christmas and New Years Day
• Additional personal leave entitlements

Period of Appointment

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE/ 4 days per week) 12-month appointment.
