Team Leader

About the role

Tonitto Cakes is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Team Leader to join our retail team on a full-time basis at our Port Kembla, NSW location. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of retail assistants to deliver exceptional customer service whilst maintaining the highest standards of product quality and store presentation. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for retail excellence and the ability to inspire and develop team members in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and motivate a team of retail assistants to achieve sales targets and customer service objectives

• Ensure the retail store is well-organised, clean and visually appealing at all times

• Train and develop team members on product knowledge, customer service standards and operational procedures

• Manage stock levels, conduct inventory checks and ensure products are displayed attractively

• Ensuring products are correctly stored and orders fullfilled in tight timeframes

• Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer queries and resolving complaints professionally

• Monitor and maintain cash handling procedures, ensuring accuracy and security

• Support the implementation of promotional activities and marketing initiatives

• Report on team performance and provide feedback to senior management

• Ensure compliance with health, safety and food hygiene regulations

• Responding and monitoring multi channel ordering systems, online, telephone and in person

• Assist with scheduling and rostering of team members

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a retail team leadership or supervisory role within the retail and consumer products sector

• Strong knowledge of retail operations, customer service standards and sales techniques

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team

• Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and drive business performance

• Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail management software

• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

• Knowledge of health, safety and food hygiene standards in a retail environment

• A passion for customer service and delivering a positive shopping experience

• Flexibility and willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays as required

• Experience in the bakery or food retail sector is highly desirable

• This role is to manage and care for the retail side of the shop and to support management in the day to day running of the business
