Engineering Lead

We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join a leading mining client and play a key role in the delivery of a Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) project.

This is a senior technical role focused on bringing together Engineering, Project, Site Operations, Product and external vendors to ensure the system is well defined, technically aligned and delivered safely.

About the role
As the Engineering Lead, you will act as the key technical interface between internal engineering teams and external vendors. You will help ensure requirements, designs, interfaces and technical decisions are clearly understood, documented and followed through across the project lifecycle.
You will be involved in resolving technical issues, managing engineering deliverables and identifying risks or integration challenges before they impact delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical coordination between Engineering, Project, Product, Site Operations and external vendors
• Manage requirements clarification, technical discussions and design reviews with vendors
• Coordinate systems engineering and systems integration activities
• Review and track engineering requirements, designs, interfaces and technical documentation
• Ensure technical decisions, assumptions, deviations and actions are documented and followed through
• Identify technical risks, gaps, dependencies and integration issues
• Maintain alignment between engineering requirements, vendor deliverables and the final system
• Support the delivery and integration of complex hardware and software systems
• Facilitate technical discussions and drive issues through to resolution
• Contribute to engineering governance, continuous improvement and safe system delivery

About you
You will ideally have 8+ years' experience delivering complex engineering systems or products, with a background in:

• Systems Engineering or Systems Integration
• Requirements engineering and management
• Hardware and software integration
• Technical leadership or engineering delivery
• Working with external vendors and multiple stakeholder groups
• Safety-critical or operationally critical systems

Experience in mining, autonomous haulage, collision avoidance, mining automation, autonomous vehicles or heavy mobile equipment will be highly regarded.
Experience with functional safety and standards such as ISO 21815, ISO 61508 or ISO 26262 would also be advantageous.
We are looking for someone who is technically strong, communicates well and is comfortable working across different teams and organisations to bring clarity to complex technical issues.
