HR and Payroll Compliance Consultant (Japan and Korea)

Position Overview
Spencer Thomas Group (STG) is seeking a skilled HR and Payroll Compliance Consultant to support a compliance assessment for Japan and Korea. The consultant will conduct risk and discovery activities focused on HR and payroll processes, statutory practices, and internal documentation within each country.

Responsibilities

• Support HR and payroll compliance risk and discovery assessments for Japan and Korea.

• Review existing payroll, HR, and employment-related processes to identify potential compliance risks or inconsistencies.

• Evaluate control and documentation practices related to labor law, taxation, and benefits.

• Collaborate with local HR, Finance, and regional teams to collect data and validate findings.

• Contribute to structured summaries and reports outlining key observations and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualification(s)

• At least 5 years of experience in HR or payroll compliance, audit, or regulatory assessment.

• Knowledge of employment and payroll legislation in Japan and/or Korea.

• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.

• Ability to manage multiple assessments across countries.

• Fluency in English and either Japanese or Korean.

Preferred Qualification(s)

• Experience supporting compliance or audit projects for multinational organizations.

• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll platforms such as ADP, Workday, or SAP.

• Background in HR governance or internal control environments.

Duration
This is a project-based consulting opportunity with an expected start date in December 2025, running through February 2026, with possible extension.

Level of Effort
Approximately 20–25 hours per week, with flexibility during assessment cycles.

Working Hours
Business hours aligned with Japan and Korea time zones. Remote engagement.
