Stakeholder Engagement Officer

About the role

Thorne Harbour Health is delivering the Primary Care program in partnership with the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS), ACON and Portable, a national initiative developing standards and an accreditation framework to help primary care providers create safer, more affirming healthcare for LGBTQI+ people across Australia.

We’re looking for a Stakeholder Engagement Officer to lead the design, recruitment, and coordination of a range of national advisory groups that will embed lived experience, clinical expertise, and organisational knowledge into the development of the accreditation framework. You’ll work closely with a supervisor at ACON and a team lead at Thorne Harbour Health, while liaising with all consortium partners throughout the project.

In this role, you will:

• Developing Terms of Reference, EOIs, and position descriptions for advisory groups.
• Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding advisory group members.
• Coordinating, scheduling, and chairing advisory group meetings across multiple time zones, including secretariat support.
• Implementing trauma-informed and psychologically safe practices to support participation.
• Designing feedback processes and synthesising input for consortium partners.
• Planning and facilitating communities of practice.
• Supporting general practice clinics participating in the Safe Spaces accreditation program.

About you

You will have a tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, community development, social work or a related field (desirable). You will also have:

• Demonstrated experience establishing and managing advisory or consultancy groups, ideally in LGBTQI+ and/or healthcare settings.
• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches to working with LGBTQI+ communities.
• Knowledge of co-design and participatory engagement approaches, including supporting lived experience participation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working within LGBTQI+ communities.
• Lived experience as a member of the LGBTQI+ community.
