Applications are invited for the position of Media Adviser in the office of Senator the Hon. Tim Ayres. This position will be paid at the EOB level and supports the function of the Ministerial office.
Applicants should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

Strong media, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
A positive outlook and ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to work under pressure, with time constraints and with minimum supervision.
Key duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Draft, edit and manage high-quality written materials, including speeches, opinion pieces, feature articles, briefing materials, and other long-form content.
Manage media enquiries, ensuring responses are accurate, timely and aligned with agreed communications objectives.
Maintain and regularly update media contact databases, distribution lists and journalist engagement records to support effective media outreach.
Draft, coordinate and distribute media releases, statements and advisories, ensuring consistency of messaging and compliance with approval processes.
Monitor media coverage, prepare transcripts, compile media summaries and provide strategic analysis of emerging issues, risks and opportunities.
Support the Senior Press Secretary in the delivery of media strategies, campaigns and the forward communications grid, ensuring activities are coordinated and aligned with broader priorities.
Coordinate clearance and approval processes with ministerial, executive and stakeholder offices, ensuring all materials meet required standards and deadlines.
Ensure all communications products comply with government, organisational and media protocols, guidelines and approval requirements.

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:
An initial probationary period of three months may apply and may be subject to extension.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police History check, obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
