Social Inclusion Policy and Project Officer (Multicultural portfolio)
Play a key role in supporting inclusion in Boroondara with a focus on multicultural communities.
Part time (24 hours per week from October 2026 until December 2027 then 20 hours per week ongoing from January 2028) permanent opportunity
The Social Inclusion Policy & Project Officer plays a key role in developing, researching, implementing, and evaluating policies and projects that support inclusion in Boroondara with a focus on multicultural communities.
A little bit about the role
The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and reporting on Council’s Multicultural Action Plan
researching, developing, and implementing effective community strategies, policies, projects and programs in response to a range of social issues including those relevant to multicultural communities
representing Council externally regarding multicultural communities, ensuring good communication between Council and relevant external groups and networks, and coordinating the provision of information and advice to Council and community stakeholders.
A little bit about you
You will have demonstrated experience in social research, analysis, policy development and delivering community events.
You will possess an ability to build relationships and engage with a range of stakeholders in the community including all levels of government, other organisations, networks, and the community.
You will also possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and be personable and approachable to a range of audiences. You will have the ability to contribute to a collaborative and cohesive culture.
You will also have comprehensive computer skills across the Microsoft Office range of applications and a willingness to work as part of a team and prepared to share experiences with other team members to improve overall knowledge.
The successful incumbent will also have:
a commitment to quality outcomes and efficient work practices, and
excellent time management and organisation skills.
Employment Requirements
Tertiary qualification in social sciences, community development or a relevant field.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
