Senior Tax Accountant

• Preparing, reviewing and lodging tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders (including income tax returns) via Xero Tax

• Preparing financial statements for business clients using Xero and super funds using Supermate or BGL

• Able to train existing staff and provide oversight

• Experience with Xero and MYOB software is required

• Providing tax advice on business structures, operations, deductions, concessions, and strategies

• Analysing financial records, income, expenditure, and operating costs to ensure accurate tax positioning

• Identifying opportunities for tax reductions, claims, offsets, and improved profitability through effective tax planning

• Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies, responding to queries

• Reviewing financial statements where relevant to tax matters

• Assisting with superannuation, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax (FBT), and other indirect taxes

• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Australian tax legislation, regulations, and changes (e.g., via ATO rulings and updates)

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, communicating complex tax concepts clearly

• Reviewing and improving accounting systems and processes related to tax compliance.

• Minimum 10+ years of tax accounting experience is required for this senior position

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CA qualification, and Tax Agent Registration are preferred

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position
