Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.

Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1400 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.

As one of the eight original Grammar Schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and student-centred Year 7 Teacher to join our teaching team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting students as they transition into secondary school, laying the foundations for academic success, wellbeing, confidence and a strong sense of belonging.

As a Year 7 Teacher, you will create engaging and inclusive learning experiences, foster positive relationships with students and families, and contribute to a vibrant school culture that values excellence, character and growth.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

About the Role

Working within a collaborative and supportive team, you will:

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences that engage, challenge and inspire Year 7 students.
• Create a positive, well-managed classroom environment that promotes respect, resilience and a love of learning.
• Monitor and support student academic progress through effective assessment, feedback and differentiated teaching practices.
• Provide outstanding pastoral care and contribute to the development of each student's wellbeing and personal growth.
• Actively support the School's Positive Education Framework and Academic and Pastoral Charters.
• Build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers to support student success.
• Contribute to the co-curricular and wider life of the School, including camps, excursions, sporting and cultural activities.
• Participate fully in the Year 7 pastoral program, supporting students as they navigate the transition to secondary schooling.

About You

The successful applicant will:

• Hold relevant teaching qualifications and QCT registration.
• Demonstrate a passion for working with middle years students, particularly those entering secondary school.
• Be skilled in creating engaging, differentiated learning experiences that cater to a range of abilities and learning needs.
• Have highly effective classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrate a genuine belief in the potential of every student.
• Be committed to fostering student wellbeing alongside academic achievement.
• Be confident using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the broader school community.
• Support and actively contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the School.
