About the role

An exciting opportunity is available in our Minerals Division for a Fire Assay Supervisor to join our Adelaide team. Working as a hands-on supervisor, the primary purpose of this role is to supervise the assay of samples in accordance with client-requested protocol, for the analysis and assay by client-requested methods.

The job includes performing technical duties as for a Fire Assayer, weighing and firing samples, and ensuring that the team meets shift productivity targets. This position would suit an established Fire Assay Supervisor, or an experienced Fire Assayer looking to take their next career step and advance into a supervisory role within a laboratory.

Key Responsibilities 

• Complete the Supervisor checklist for each and every shift

• Complete the production log accurately and efficiently for all allocated work.

• Update the production spreadsheet with priorities and the stage of processing

• Task allocation, staff supervision, and monitoring of staff attendance

• Monitor staff performance and quality expectations

• Enforce all Intertek policies and procedures including workplace health and safety, HR, IT, quality, and production.

• Check all shift production quotas have been reached

• Problem solve and troubleshooting in routine and non-routine situations

• Assist in the maintenance of a quality system so as to maintain NATA accreditation

• Support and train other members of the team to achieve expected outcomes

Selection Criteria

• Knowledge of MinLIMS is highly desirable. 

• Sound knowledge of Fire Assay systems.

• Sound knowledge of the data entry procedures. 

• Interpersonal and communication skills

• Organisation and time management skills

• Prior industry experience
