The Talbot Centre
About the role
Stay clinically connected. Grow your impact.
Do you still love being a psychologist but feel ready for your career to include more than your own clinical caseload?
Perhaps you're an experienced Clinical Psychologist who increasingly finds yourself drawn to supervision, mentoring and developing other clinicians. You might already be a Board Approved Supervisor and wish supervision could become a meaningful, protected part of your working week, rather than something fitted in around a full clinical caseload.
Or perhaps you're earlier in your supervision journey. You're the person colleagues naturally come to when they want to think through a difficult case. You enjoy helping other psychologists develop their formulation and clinical reasoning, and you're beginning to wonder whether supervision, clinical education or training could become a bigger part of your professional future.
At The Talbot Centre, you don't have to choose between remaining clinically connected and growing beyond a traditional clinical role. We're looking for Clinical Psychologists who want to combine meaningful clinical practice with protected time to supervise and develop other clinicians with opportunities to grow further into training, professional development, research and clinical education if these areas interest you.
There Should Be More Than One Way to Progress as a Psychologist
Too often, career progression in psychology eventually means choosing between maintaining a predominantly clinical caseload or moving away from clinical practice into management.
We think there should be another path.
At The Talbot Centre, experienced clinicians can grow their impact through supervision, mentoring, clinical education and developing others, without having to leave clinical practice behind or become a traditional people manager.
This role could suit you if you're:
An established Clinical Supervisor who loves developing other psychologists and would like supervision to become a larger, protected part of your role while maintaining a smaller clinical caseload; or
A future Clinical Educator: a strong Clinical Psychologist who is newer to supervision but can see supervision, mentoring and perhaps training becoming an important part of the next stage of your career.
You don't need to arrive as an accomplished educator, supervisor or presenter. We're equally interested in psychologists with the clinical capability, curiosity and desire to develop into this work. You may be an experienced supervisor, newly endorsed supervisor, or a psychologist interested in taking their first steps into supervision (with full training and support provided).
Build Your Career, Your Way
At The Talbot Centre, we recognise that career satisfaction looks different for everyone. Through our Career by Design™ framework, we work with each psychologist to build a role that aligns with their professional strengths, passions and aspirations while balancing these with the needs of our service. Your week will be intentionally designed to include both clinical practice and supervision/development responsibilities. The exact balance will reflect your experience, interests, supervision responsibilities and career goals.
We believe excellent supervision is essential to ethical, sustainable psychology practice. That’s why supervision time isn’t something squeezed in around your other work; it’s protected and valued as a core part of your role. You’ll have dedicated time to provide high-quality supervision, reflect, and grow, within a culture that genuinely prioritises clinician wellbeing and burnout prevention.
We value supervision as a cornerstone of high-quality care and professional wellbeing. We have clear structures and systems in place to ensure supervision remains distinct from management functions and to protect the integrity and safety of the supervisory relationship. You will be supported by our established internal supervision team, including access to supervision of supervision within an interdisciplinary group of experienced supervisors.
For psychologists interested in developing further as clinical educators, there may also be opportunities to contribute to internal professional development, group supervision, clinical resources, workshops, supervisor training and masterclasses, research and external professional training.
Be Part of a Movement, Not Just a Workplace: Our Approach to HealthCare
At The Talbot Centre, we are focused on providing holistic, inclusive, and affirming care to individuals with a range of complex mental health needs. Our niche areas of focus include:
Eating and feeding disorders
Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders
Trauma and complex presentations
Anxiety presentations
Child and family mental health
Supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including neurodivergent folk and Christian clients seeking faith-aligned care
We integrate relational approaches—such as schema therapy, attachment-based interventions, and psychodynamic principles—with skills-based approaches, including CBT, ACT, and DBT. This allows us to support clients in understanding and transforming underlying patterns while equipping them with practical tools to navigate challenges. If this balanced, integrative approach resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you.
Our multidisciplinary team provides collaborative, whole-person care that adapts to the needs of each individual. We are committed to reducing stigma, challenging outdated treatment models, and fostering autonomy in recovery and mental well-being. Our approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, fat-positive and culturally responsive, ensuring every client feels seen, heard, and supported. We value lived experience perspectives alongside research and clinical expertise, ensuring our work is both evidence-based and deeply human.
Clinical experience in one or more of our niche practice areas is highly desirable, particularly where you can contribute that expertise to the development of other clinicians.
If you are passionate about delivering meaningful care in an environment that values innovation and inclusivity, we’d love to hear from you.

Why The Talbot Centre?
At The Talbot Centre, we don’t just offer jobs—we offer a place to belong. We’re looking for someone who isn’t just searching for their next role, but a team where they can grow, thrive, and make a real impact for years to come. We are not a private practice; we are a private outpatient service with a unique organisational structure designed to provide the best possible support for our staff which in turn results in the highest quality care for our community. If you're looking for a meaningful, long-term career in a workplace that truly values you, we’d love to hear from you.

We were awarded Team Culture Excellence at the Australian Allied Health Awards in 2024, reflecting our commitment to a supportive and thriving workplace. Our director is also a past recipient of the Excellence in Allied Health Leadership & Management Award (2021). As we can no longer consistently meet the demand for our services and aim to keep wait times as short as possible for our patients, we are looking to add an additional psychologist to our team.
Some examples of our philosophy in action include:
Providing size-inclusive furniture for staff and clientele
Liaising with neurodivergent collaborators for research and treatment purposes
Creating a series of inclusive practice guidelines that govern how we engage at work
Providing workplace accommodations for neurodivergent staff
Our team includes psychologists of varying backgrounds and experience levels, dietitians, speech pathologists, and a paediatrician (with further expansion of services planned within the next 12 months).

Could This Be Your Next Professional Chapter?
Some of the psychologists we'd most like to meet may not be actively looking for another job. But perhaps you've started wondering what the next five or ten years of your career could look like. You still love being a psychologist. You don't want to stop seeing clients. You don't necessarily want to become a manager. But you would like to use everything you've learnt to develop other clinicians and have an impact that extends beyond your own caseload.
If you're an established Clinical Psychologist and supervisor looking for somewhere that will genuinely value your supervisory expertise, we'd love to meet you. And if you're thinking, “I'm not an experienced supervisor yet, but this is exactly where I want my career to go,” we'd love to meet you too. We're interested not only in what you've already done, but in the psychologist you're hoping to become.
How to Apply
We believe that excellent supervision is the foundation of ethical, sustainable psychology practice. If you’re an experienced psychologist who loves both client work and supervision, we’d love to have you bring your wisdom to our community.
Please forward your resume and a brief cover letter to Dr Duska Tadic, Training & Development Lead, via our website Join our Team page https://thetalbotcentre.com.au/for-health-professionals/join-our-team/
We strongly value authenticity and care about who you are as a person. We’d love your cover letter to give us a real sense of who you are, not just what you’ve done. Tell us why this role excites you, what you want this next stage of your career to look like, and why The Talbot Centre feels like home for you. Or, if you prefer, send us a video instead of a cover letter.
Please address your letter to Dr Duska Tadic, Training & Development Lead. In your application, confirm the clinical populations you most enjoy working with, your philosophy of care and approach to clinical intervention and your availability.
We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
