Why You’ll Love This Role

This is a project-focused role for someone who enjoys turning evidence into practical action. You will help develop the City’s Wetlands Action Plan by bringing together existing information, checking what is happening on the ground, and identifying clear priorities for future wetland management. Working with internal teams and other stakeholders as needed, you will help build a useful, evidence-based plan that supports better outcomes for the City’s wetlands.  This role is part time (3 days a week).

What You’ll Be Doing

• Help develop the City’s Wetlands Action Plan from evidence through to practical actions
• Bring together existing wetland information, strategies, reports and spatial data to build a clear picture of current knowledge
• Undertake field verification to test and strengthen desktop findings, including wetland values, condition, pressures and management needs
• Work with internal teams and other stakeholders as needed to understand issues, opportunities and practical management options
• Develop a clear, usable list of recommended actions for wetlands across the City
• Prepare a prioritisation matrix using principles developed through the broader project
• Apply wetland ecology, ecological assessment and environmental planning knowledge to support sound recommendations
• Prepare clear project documentation that supports future implementation and decision-making

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a good fit if you enjoy working across both the detail and the bigger picture, combining ecological knowledge, analysis and practical planning to deliver clear outcomes. You’ll ideally bring:

• Tertiary qualification in an environmental related discipline
• Knowledge or experience in wetland ecology, ecological assessment or environmental planning
• Ability to interpret environmental information and turn it into practical actions and priorities
• Confidence working across desktop analysis and field-based assessment or site verification
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear actions, summaries and planning documents
• Confidence engaging with community members, stakeholders and internal teams to gather input, understand different perspectives and test recommendations
• Good project coordination skills and a focus on delivering useful, outcome-focused work
• Current C Class driver’s licence.
