Employment Consultant (First Nations Identified role)

About the job:

We're looking for a Permanent Full Time Employment Consultant to join our Workforce Australia teams in Belconnen and Gungahlin (2 days in one site, 3 days per week in the other).

Based between our Belconnen and Gungahlin sites, you'll provide quality engagement with local First Nations People helping build confidence, skills and job readiness.

What you'll be doing

A key focus of this role is the provision of strong engagement and post placement support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers and employers to facilitate retention and sustained employment outcomes.

• Manage a high-volume caseload of job seekers
• Engage and motivate participants to achieve sustainable employment outcomes
• Reverse market suitable candidates to employers
• Identify and address barriers to employment
• Build participants' confidence, skills and job readiness
• Use strong problem-solving skills to achieve positive outcomes

About you

• You enjoy working with people and making a positive impact
• You are an experienced Employment Consultant looking to join a values-driven organisation or you may be someone with strong case management and administrative skills ready for a meaningful career change.
• You will possess a demonstrated understanding of the history and challenges impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Experience working in a specialist role within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community is advantage but not essential

If you're organised, resilient, a strong communicator and able to build rapport quickly, you'll thrive in this role. A current driver's licence is required for this position.
