The Role 

Based in Horsham, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the daily conversation across the Wimmera region. ABC Wimmera is looking for a passionate and creative Producer to support our local Breakfast program and deliver content that captures the stories of regional life along with key issues including mining, agriculture, healthcare access, bushfires, and cost of living. 

As the Breakfast Producer, you'll be responsible for finding, planning and commissioning content that resonates with local audiences. You'll work closely with presenters and the wider team to identify compelling stories, coordinate guests, produce engaging program segments and help bring each broadcast to life. You'll also provide in-studio production support, manage talkback callers and guests, contribute digital content, and help grow audience engagement across multiple platforms. 

The Job 

• Find, plan and commission content for the ABC Wimmera Breakfast program.  
• Research, develop and produce engaging stories and conversations that matter to local audiences.  
• Provide in-studio production support, including managing talkback callers, guests and program logistics.  
• Build and maintain relationships with community contacts to identify fresh and relevant content opportunities.  
• Write digital stories and contribute content across ABC platforms.  
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to create content that can reach both local and national audiences. 
• Presenting on air as required. 
• Contribute to the Local Emergency Coverage plan, engaging with stakeholders and providing ongoing updates for local and national audiences. 
• Be available to work a regular Breakfast shift roster, Monday to Friday, from 5:30am to 1:30pm.

About You 

You understand what makes great local content and can identify stories that will engage audiences across broadcast and digital platforms. 

You'll have:  

• Experience producing compelling audio and cross-platform content for target audiences.  
• Strong editorial skills, including the ability to source, verify and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.  
• Experience working effectively in a collaborative team environment. 
• Advanced ability to use all software and hardware relevant to this radio role.
