HDD Vac Truck and Locator/Assistant

About the role

Southern Cross Directional Drilling (SCDD) are looking for two experienced and dedicated team members to fill two separate positions within our HDD company. HDD Vac Truck Operator and Service Locator/Assistant. They are both is full-time positions offering an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations.

Key responsibilities and experience

Semi trailer vac truck operator:

• Operating and maintaining a semi trailer vacuum excavation truck to support HDD drilling operations, including fluid management and site cleanup

• Maintaining and conducting regular inspections of vac truck and equipment to ensure operational readiness

• Adhering to all workplace health and safety procedures and site-specific requirements

• Current HC drivers licence

• Construction card and First Aid/Cpr certificate

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and a commitment to safe work procedures

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders

• Attending waste facilities and adhering to the rules and regulations of each facility

• Prior experience within the HDD industry desirable but not essential for the right candidate

• Ability to work overtime and away when required

Locator/HDD Assistant:

• Performing service locating duties using specialised equipment to accurately identify underground utilities and drilling pathways

• Demonstrated knowledge of utility locating principles and experience using F5 Falcon and Mag9 locating equipment

• Ability to read plans, BYDA and design drawings

• Current HR drivers licence

• Construction card and first aid/cpr certificate

• Excavator licence with proven experience

• Assisting the HDD team with site setup, operation and breakdown of equipment

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and a commitment to safe work procedures

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders

• Prior HDD industry experience essential

• Ability to work overtime and away when required
