Occupational Hygienist / Occupational Hygiene Technician

Robson Environmental, established in 1990, is a Canberra based environmental consultancy with a multi-disciplinary team covering asbestos and hazmat, environmental assessment & remediation, occupational hygiene, workplace safety, NATA accredited laboratories and a training facility.

The Role

We are looking for a qualified Occupational Hygienists or Occupational Hygiene Technicians to work on a wide range of exciting projects in a fast paced environment. This role would suit someone who enjoys highly varied work as part of a well-supported team. As a member of our Occupational Hygiene team, you will be providing occupational hygiene consulting services to clients including:

• Designing appropriate sampling strategies;
• Occupational exposure monitoring;
• Other hygiene assessments (e.g. noise surveys, IAQ, mould, chemical risk assessments);
• Project management; and
• Report writing

As a consultant you will be expected to liaise with clients, offer mentorship to more junior staff and take an active role in maintaining Robson’s high level of performance, quality, and safety. You will also be expected to be flexible to adapt to changing tasks during the working day due to the highly reactive nature of the industry. Overtime/time in lieu is paid at penalty rates.

As Robson Environmental has a separate Hazardous Materials team this role will include only limited asbestos work. 

Essential

• Tertiary qualifications in OHS, Science, Engineering or other suitable discipline
• Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Hygiene or a minimum of 5 years experience (Hygienist)
• Completing postgraduate qualifications or 2 years experience (Technician)
• Experience in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards in the workplace including environmental factors and stresses, chemical hazards, physical hazards or biological hazards
• A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with high-level clients
• Full unrestricted drivers license
• Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
• The ability to travel interstate and work flexible hours including overtime when required
• Able to obtain security clearances, and a satisfactory health check
• Australian citizen or permanent resident

Desirable

It is envisaged that the successful applicant would be a provisional or full member of the AIOH or be eligible for membership.
