We’re looking for a hands-on Head Chef to lead our Sydney CBD kitchen with creativity, humility and care, creating food that brings people together and a team of culture people are proud to be part of. 

 

We’re Pablo & Rusty’s, a purpose-driven coffee roaster with a flagship cafe in the heart of the Sydney CBD. This role is your chance to create a seasonal, modern Australian cafe menu, be part of the venues Leadership Team and lead a small, passionate team in a venue that values people and creativity.

The role 

You’ll be leading by example, designing menus, cooking and plating, mentoring your team, and managing cost control and supplier relationships. You’ll be part of the cafes Leadership Team working closely with the Venue Manager, front-of-house and coffee team to deliver a consistent and memorable hospitality experience for every guest! 

This is a full-time permanent role, based at our Sydney CBD cafe at 161 Castlereagh Street. 2 mins walk from Gadigal Metro or Town Hall station. 

What we’re looking for 

• 2 or more years in a Head Chef or senior kitchen leadership role 
• Strong cooking, plating and prep skills 
• Experience designing and costing seasonal menus 
• Confident working with suppliers, ordering and kitchen systems 
• A great communicator and problem solver who leads by example leaving the ego at the door 
• You’ll have a genuine passion for hospitality as a tool to bring folks together. Bonus points if you’ve read Unreasonable Hospitality and embody the principle of ensuring everyone in your Team and venue feels seen, heard and knows they are part of something bigger than themselves.
