Documen Support Services (DSS) is seeking a reliable, confident and experienced Disability Support Worker to provide regular weekday transport and associated support for children aged approximately 9 to 15 years with Autism and ADHD.

Morning transport is from Macquarie Fields to Austral, with return transport from Austral to Macquarie Fields in the afternoons.

Due to the split-shift schedule, this role is best suited to someone living near Macquarie Fields, Austral or surrounding suburbs.

Additional weekend disability support and community access work is available for the right candidate.

Working Days / Hours
Mornings:
Monday to Friday
7:15am – 9:15am (2 hour shift)

Afternoons:
Monday to Friday
3:45pm – 5:45pm (2 hour shift)

Morning route: Macquarie Fields → Austral
Afternoon route: Austral → Macquarie Fields

Approximately 20 hours per week. Consistent availability for both morning and afternoon runs is essential. MUST BE RELIABLE AND PUNCTUAL. This is primarily for school weeks. Holiday periods may require other support work and transport services.

Remuneration & Travel

• Agreed contractor rate for support hours @ $38/hr
• 12% superannuation contribution is included in the rate, where applicable
• Travel allowance of $0.50 per kilometre for approved participant transport and work-related travel (distances travelled whilst transporting clients)
• Additional weekend and community access shifts available for the right candidate

Specific payment and travel arrangements will be discussed with suitable applicants prior to engagement.

About the Role

The role focuses on providing safe, reliable transport and appropriate support for children aged approximately 9 to 15 years with Autism and ADHD.

Responsibilities include:

• Safely transporting and supervising children between Macquarie Fields and Austral
• Maintaining a calm, supportive and safe environment during transport
• Following pick-up, drop-off, handover and vehicle safety requirements
• Supporting individual communication, behavioural and emotional regulation needs
• Completing shift notes and DSS travel logs accurately
• Reporting incidents, hazards, concerns or relevant changes
• Following participant support plans, risk management strategies and DSS procedures
• Understanding and complying with the NDIS Code of Conduct
• Maintaining privacy, confidentiality, professional boundaries and duty of care

The successful candidate must be confident supporting children and young people with Autism and ADHD and able to respond calmly and appropriately to individual support needs.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, calm and respectful, with:

• Confidence supporting children aged 9 to 15 years with Autism and ADHD
• Safe, responsible driving skills and the ability to work independently
• The ability to respond appropriately to challenging situations
• Professional communication, documentation and confidentiality
• Strong awareness of safety, risk, duty of care and professional boundaries
• A willingness to follow DSS policies, procedures and compliance requirements
• Ideally, a location near Macquarie Fields, Austral or surrounding suburbs

Previous disability support experience, particularly supporting children or young people with Autism and ADHD, will be highly regarded.

• Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
• Current Australian Driver Licence
• Reliable and appropriately insured vehicle
• Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
• Current National Police Check / Police Clearance – Employment
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check – Employment / Paid Work
• Current Working With Children Check – Employment
• Current First Aid certification
• Current CPR certification

Evidence of all required checks, licences, certifications and insurances will be required prior to commencement.

Volunteer clearances will not be accepted where an employment or paid-worker clearance is required.

Mandatory Courses:

Applicants must have completed and be able to provide evidence of:

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• NDIS Induction Module

Certificates of completion will be required as part of the DSS onboarding and compliance process.

Contractor Arrangement:

This opportunity is for an independent Disability Support Worker operating under their own active ABN and maintaining the required insurances.

The engagement is intended to be ongoing, subject to participant requirements, continued suitability and service arrangements.

The contractor must maintain all required screening checks, licences, certifications, training and insurances throughout their engagement.
