About the Role

MCA Engineering is seeking a Safety Officer with demonstrated experience in underground mining to support our team on-site in Central West NSW. This is a FIFO/DIDO role, providing HSE support for an underground construction project running for 12 months.

The principal functions of this position is to maintain and monitor MCA Engineering’s Safety System: Lucidity, and review all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental related strategies, policies and procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices throughout MCA in accordance with International and local Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation and standards.

To work proactively with Managers and Supervisors to establish and maintain efficient & safe systems of work and a safe environment.  This role is a site-based role on a 2:1 roster, working back to back with other safety officers, reporting to the Construction Manager.

Key Selection Criteria

• Certificate IV or Diploma in Work, Health and Safety
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an underground environment
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance requirements
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with management, supervisory and operational staff
• Demonstrated ability to coach and influence safe work behaviours
• Strong reporting and documentation skills
• Confident conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Willingness and ability to regularly work underground as part of the role
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing
