Director of Football – S4S Academy

S4S Academy is seeking an experienced and ambitious Director of Football to lead the football and player development direction of our growing private academy.

S4S Academy delivers a broad range of football programs across Melbourne, including academy and performance programs, weekly development sessions, school programs, holiday clinics, tournaments and specialist development opportunities.

This is a key leadership position responsible for driving the quality, consistency and long-term football direction of the Academy.

The Role

The Director of Football will oversee the technical and football operations of S4S Academy, working closely with Academy management, coaches, players and families.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the overall football philosophy and technical direction of S4S Academy
• Developing and implementing a consistent Academy curriculum and coaching methodology
• Managing, mentoring and developing S4S Academy coaches
• Observing training sessions and providing regular coach feedback
• Supporting player identification, assessments, trials and squad selections
• Monitoring player development across Academy programs
• Establishing clear player development standards and pathways
• Planning technical content across weekly programs, holiday clinics and Academy environments
• Supporting tournament planning and football-related events
• Recruiting high-quality coaches as the Academy continues to grow
• Ensuring sessions are delivered to a consistently high professional standard
• Working closely with Academy management on program development and future growth
• Building a strong football culture based on development, professionalism, accountability and enjoyment

About You

We are looking for someone with strong football knowledge, leadership qualities and the ability to work effectively with both coaches and young players.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Significant coaching and/or football development experience
• A recognised Football Australia, UEFA or equivalent coaching qualification
• Previous experience in an Academy, NPL, professional club, technical director or coach development environment
• Strong understanding of junior player development
• Experience designing coaching curriculums and development frameworks
• Ability to mentor and manage a team of coaches
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational and leadership capabilities
• A professional and positive approach when working with players, families and staff
• A genuine passion for developing young footballers and coaches

Experience within a professional Academy or elite youth environment would be highly regarded.

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
