Team Lead - Fire Protection Engineer

The Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Team Lead to join our Sydney Property & Buildings team. This leadership role will drive the delivery of major projects across commercial, health, education, defence, transport, mission critical and mixed-use sectors, while growing our fire protection capability and developing our people.

What You'll Do

Lead fire protection design and documentation for major projects. Provide technical leadership from concept through construction. Mentor and develop engineers, graduates and designers. Manage project scope, quality, programme, risk and budgets. Review designs, reports and specifications for compliance and quality. Build strong client and stakeholder relationships. Support business development, proposals and market engagement. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across WSP. Contribute to team growth, resourcing and capability development. Champion innovation, safety in design and continuous improvement.

About You

You are an experienced fire protection engineer with strong leadership and client management skills. You'll bring:

Engineering degree or equivalent qualification. 10+ years' experience in fire protection or building services. Expertise in wet and dry fire systems. Experience delivering major Australian building projects. Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and fire codes. Proven project leadership and commercial management skills. Experience mentoring and developing technical staff. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Exposure to bids, proposals and business development. Familiarity with Revit MEP, Navisworks and BIM workflows. Consulting, contractor or D&C leadership experience.
