Head Chef | The Mona Social

The Mona Social is a vibrant, coastal venue in the heart of Mona Vale, bringing together great food, drinks, atmosphere and people. We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and take our food offering to the next level.

This is an opportunity for a passionate chef who loves creating exceptional food, developing a strong team and being part of a busy, energetic hospitality environment.

As Head Chef, you’ll take ownership of the kitchen and play a key role in shaping the overall food experience at The Mona Social. You’ll lead from the front, set high standards and create a kitchen culture where people enjoy coming to work.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading, mentoring and developing the kitchen team;

• Creating and maintaining an exciting, high-quality food offering;

• Managing kitchen operations across busy service periods;

• Ensuring consistency, quality and presentation across every dish;

• Managing food costs, gross profits, ordering and stock control;

• Working closely with the venue management team to drive the success of the venue;

• Maintaining exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation;

• Recruiting and building a strong, reliable kitchen team;

• Managing rosters and labour costs effectively

• Bringing creativity, energy and fresh ideas to the menu

We’re looking for someone who is more than just a great chef, you’re a natural leader who knows how to bring a team together and get the best out of people.

You’ll have:

• Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader;

• Strong leadership and team management skills;

• A genuine passion for food and hospitality;

• Experience managing food costs, GP, stock and labour;

• The ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment;

• Excellent communication and organisational skills;

• A hands-on approach and a strong work ethic;

• A positive attitude and a desire to create an awesome workplace culture.
