About the role
We are excited to announce that we have a full-time opening as a Tenancy Support Worker in our Property, Housing, and Assets team. Our Housing team manages 325 properties; many are head leased from the Department of Housing and Works. Our Community Housing incorporates the Independent Living Program (ILP), which accommodates 221 tenants who are diagnosed with a mental health condition. Additionally, our Housing team partners with internal and external specialist providers in the provision of wrap around services that supports sustainable housing options for people with a range of complex needs.
Reporting to the Team Leader Tenancy Management, the Tenancy Support Worker provides property and tenancy support for clients with complex needs, through a supportive landlord model.
Key responsibilities
Providing tenancy management services to tenants including property inspections, assisting with the reporting of repairs and maintenance issues and responding to tenant and community complaints
Supporting case management plans for tenants needing additional support to sustain their tenancy, in liaison with our ILP support team, and/or our tenants formal and informal supports
Developing and maintaining effective relationships with support agencies regarding the support needs of new and existing tenants to promote healthy and sustainable housing
Liaising and collaborating with stakeholders such as North Metro Mental Health Service, Department of Housing and Works, Consumer Affairs and client advocates
Coordinating a portfolio of properties
About you
Committed and empathic to the needs of people with complex needs
Team focused and excellent at developing and maintaining good working relationships
Ability to effectively engage with clients with complex and inter-related needs, particularly those with a diagnosed mental health condition
Excellent skills in assessment, referral, negotiation and advocacy
Sound awareness and demonstration of conflict resolution skills
Skills in time management and navigating competing priorities concurrently
Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 1987
