We are looking for a Perception ADAS Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Perth. In this role, you will contribute to the development, integration, testing, and continuous improvement of perception systems that support advanced driver assistance and collision prevention technologies used in mining and construction environments.

About the RoleReporting to the Senior ADAS Engineer, you will develop and optimise perception solutions that enable reliable object detection, classification, tracking, depth estimation, and scene understanding in challenging real-world operating conditions.
You will work with a range of sensing technologies including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and associated sensor fusion systems, helping to improve safety, reliability, and performance across deployed products.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, integrate, and maintain perception algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, depth estimation, and scene understanding.
Work with camera, LiDAR, radar, and sensor-fusion data to deliver robust perception performance.
Develop and optimise computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning pipelines.
Support sensor calibration activities, including camera calibration, stereo calibration, sensor alignment, and validation.
Implement and optimise inference pipelines for embedded, edge, and GPU-accelerated platforms.
Investigate and resolve perception issues including false detections, tracking failures, depth errors, latency concerns, and performance degradation.
Analyse datasets, identify failure modes, and drive continuous improvement of perception models and system performance.
Develop automated testing, validation, logging, and performance monitoring tools.
Support integration of perception systems within broader ADAS and collision prevention platforms.
Work closely with software, hardware, embedded, systems, and testing engineers.
Participate in sprint planning, technical reviews, and engineering discussions.
Investigate field-reported issues and support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution activities.
Engage with customers, field teams, and technology partners to support validation and continuous improvement.
Communicate technical findings, risks, progress, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Approximately 2-4 years' experience in computer vision, robotics, perception systems, ADAS, machine learning, software engineering, or a related field.
Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
Understanding of computer vision and machine learning concepts, including:
Object detection
Image processing
Depth estimation
Model evaluation
Performance metrics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Current C Class Driver's Licence.
Experience with ROS/ROS2.
Experience with OpenCV.
Exposure to CUDA, TensorRT, and GPU optimisation.
Linux development experience.
Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
Experience working with autonomous systems, robotics, mining technology, or safety-critical systems.
