The Role

We're looking for an experienced and technically capable Surveyor to join our Digital and Technology team on a permanent full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Surveying Team Leader, you'll play a key role in delivering modern surveying and spatial data solutions that support TasWater's infrastructure, projects and operations across Tasmania. Combining field surveying, reality capture technologies, cadastral expertise and spatial data management, you'll help ensure our asset information is accurate, reliable and fit for future business needs while contributing to the ongoing development of TasWater's surveying systems, governance and digital capability. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated professional who enjoys combining fieldwork, technology and problem solving to deliver high-quality outcomes and improve the way data is captured, managed and used.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver a broad range of surveying services including GNSS, total station, reality capture and RPAS surveying activities. 
  
• Manage survey projects from planning through to completion, including fieldwork, data analysis, reporting and quality assurance. 
  
• Provide professional advice on surveying methodologies, technologies, governance and best practice to internal stakeholders. 
  
• Support engineers, project managers and operational teams with cadastral information, property boundaries, easements and land title matters. 
  
• Analyse surveying data and develop accurate, traceable and fit-for-purpose spatial information products. 
  
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure survey data, specifications and project requirements are achieved. 
  
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of surveying systems, processes and data governance practices

What we're looking for

We're seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented surveying professional who can confidently balance technical expertise with stakeholder engagement. 

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

• Formal tertiary qualifications in Surveying, Geomatics, Information Systems Technology, Engineering, Science or a related discipline. 
  
• Registration as a Land Surveyor in Tasmania. 
  
• Demonstrated experience operating survey-grade instruments including GNSS and total stations. 
  
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and deliver outcomes autonomously. 
  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when working with complex, conflicting or incomplete data. 
  
• Proven experience using contemporary surveying and CAD software. 
  
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across a broad range of stakeholders. 
  
• A commitment to quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.

Highly regarded:

• Experience with laser scanning, RPAS, LiDAR, photogrammetry, GIS, BIM or utilities infrastructure.

The Details

This role will be based in Hobart and attracts a salary range of $113,918.64 - $120,247.46 per annum (inclusive of superannuation).

The role involves regular travel throughout Tasmania, field-based surveying work, and occasional overnight stays. Participation in after-hours work may also be required for projects where access to assets and infrastructure is necessary outside normal operating hours.
