About the role
Insprove is a Brisbane-based consultancy specialising in government digital transformation program delivery. We work with QLD and Commonwealth agencies to deliver complex transformation, legacy system replacement, and digital uplift programs.
Insprove is looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in cryptographic services to support a federal government department's security capability uplift in Canberra.
This is a 12-month contract with potential for up to 2 x 12-month extensions. Full-time, on-site in Canberra, 5 days per week. Start date is late October 2026.
The roleYou'll provide architectural leadership for the delivery, governance and evolution of enterprise cryptographic services, including PKI, Hardware Security Modules, certificate management, key management and related security capabilities. This spans both technical architecture and governance, developing policies, standards, procedures, operating models and assurance frameworks. You'll work across business, architecture, engineering and operational teams in a complex, regulated, security-sensitive environment.
What we need• Must hold or be able to obtain NV1 security clearance (NV2 highly regarded)
• Canberra-based, full-time on-site (no remote or interstate)
• Demonstrated experience leading assessment, architecture and improvement of enterprise cryptographic or PKI services
• Experience defining target-state architectures, trust models, security controls and improvement roadmaps for cryptographic services
• Proven ability to develop governance artefacts: policies, standards, certificate policies, certification practice statements, key management procedures, operating models
• Experience leading secure technology services across the full delivery lifecycle, from design through transition to operations
• Ability to provide authoritative technical advice and communicate complex cryptographic and security matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with Australian Government ISM, Gatekeeper PKI Framework, or ICAO PKD arrangements
• Experience with ePassport, electronic travel document, or biometric identity PKI systems
• Experience with cryptographic key ceremonies, multi-person control, and HSM-based key protection
• Familiarity with cryptographic agility and post-quantum cryptography readiness
• TOGAF, CISSP, CISM or equivalent certifications
