About Powerhouse
Powerhouse Museum is located at the intersection of arts, design, science, and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia. We are undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta; expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill; the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo; and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you interested in food, learning and working with children and communities? Join the Powerhouse team as a Kitchen Gardens Volunteer and support programs in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen at Powerhouse Parramatta. Working alongside Powerhouse staff, volunteers will support hands-on gardening, cooking, food education and learning programs for schools and community groups. You’ll help prepare activities, welcome participants and create safe, inclusive and engaging experiences that connect food, culture, sustainability and learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome and assist children, families and community participants
Support hands-on cooking, food education and kitchen activities
Assist with preparation, set-up, cleaning and pack-down
Encourage participation and support a safe and inclusive kitchen environment
Work collaboratively with Powerhouse staff, volunteers and participants

Motivation
Interest in food, cooking, sustainability, learning and community engagement
Skills
Confidence interacting with children, families and diverse communities
Ability to follow food safety procedures and work safely in a kitchen environment
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
