Aminjarrinja Enterprises Aboriginal Corp oration
About the role
Aminjarrinja Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation (AEAC) is a 100% Aboriginal-owned and operated organisation delivering essential services across remote Northern Territory communities.
We’re looking for an experienced dual-trade Licensed Electrician and Refrigeration Mechanic who knows their trades, backs themselves and enjoys work with genuine variety.
If you want to look at the same switchboard or air-conditioning unit every day, this probably isn’t for you. But if you enjoy solving problems, working with a solid crew and keeping essential community infrastructure operating, keep reading.
No two days will be the same. You’ll work across commercial, residential, industrial and community facilities, undertaking:
Electrical maintenance, installations and upgrades
Refrigeration and air-conditioning installation, servicing and repairs
Fault-finding and electrical and mechanical diagnostics
Preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
Maintenance of commercial refrigeration systems
Repairs to housing, facilities and community infrastructure
Testing, compliance and safety documentation
Preparation of service reports and accurate job records
Advice on system improvements and energy efficiency
Support for generators, pumps, solar systems and other essential infrastructure
Collaboration with our building, civil and maintenance teams
Assistance outside your core trades when required to support broader works programs
One day you may be chasing a difficult electrical fault, and the next you could be repairing an air-conditioning system, maintaining commercial refrigeration equipment or helping keep critical community services running.
It’s practical work that matters.
To be considered, you must hold qualifications and licences in both electrical and refrigeration trades, including:
Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, or equivalent
Current unrestricted A-Grade Electrical Licence, or eligibility for Northern Territory recognition
Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or equivalent
Current Refrigerant Handling Licence
Current Australian driver’s licence
Strong experience in electrical and refrigeration maintenance, installations and fault-finding
Sound understanding of WHS requirements, electrical compliance and Australian Standards
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
Ability to work independently and as part of a small, multi-skilled team
Good communication, time-management and job-recording skills
Reliability, initiative and the ability to complete work without being constantly supervised
Willingness and ability to work in remote locations
Cultural awareness and a respectful approach to working with Aboriginal people and communities
The following would be highly regarded but are not essential:
HR driver’s licence
Previous remote, FIFO or community-based experience
Current CPR and LVR
Working at Heights, EWP and Confined Space tickets
Experience with commercial or industrial refrigeration
Experience with ammonia or CO₂ refrigeration systems
Exposure to generators, solar systems, pumps and site infrastructure
Familiarity with digital job-management and diagnostic systems
Competitive remuneration and solid conditions
4:1 FIFO roster
Varied work across two valuable trades
A practical, tight-knit and no-ego team
Meaningful work supporting remote communities
The opportunity to work with a 100% Aboriginal-owned and operated organisation
A role where your skills, initiative and contribution will be recognised
Remote work can be hot, unpredictable and occasionally frustrating. You’ll need to be adaptable, resourceful and prepared to help wherever the team needs you.
But it’s also rewarding, meaningful and far more interesting than doing the same city-based jobs every day.
If you’re a qualified dual-trade electrician and refrigeration mechanic who can think on your feet, have a laugh and get the job done safely and properly, you’ll fit right in.
Apply through SEEK with:
Your current resume
Copies or details of your trade qualifications and licences
A brief cover letter outlining your experience and suitability for remote FIFO work
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
