The Role
The Transitional/Nurse Practitioner Mental Health (T/NPMH) provides advanced nursing management, clinical leadership, and clinical support to adults with mental disorders in correctional centres. The T/NPMH develops, facilitates, implements, and evaluates treatment plans that effectively manage risks for adult clients with complex mental health needs, including dual diagnosis and comorbidity, and utilises critical and reflective thinking, complex reasoning and analysis to guide assessments, clinical judgements and decisions for complete episodes of patient care. The T/NPMH is clinically supervised by a consultant psychiatrist and has substantial autonomy in the management of patients under the practitioner’s care.
