Commis Chef / Recently Qualified Chef

About the role

As a Commis Chef, you will work as part of the kitchen team preparing and cooking meals across Nine Restaurant & Bar, Vibes Alfresco, functions and Club events. This position is ideally suited to a chef who has recently completed their apprenticeship or Commercial Cookery qualification and is looking for the next step in their career. Working alongside experienced chefs, you will gain exposure across restaurant dining, functions and events while continuing to develop your cooking, presentation and service skills.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking food across various sections of the kitchen

• Completing mise en place and preparing ingredients for service

• Supporting senior chefs during busy lunch and dinner services

• Following recipes, portioning and presentation standards

• Maintaining consistent food quality and presentation

• Following food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements

• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area

• Assisting with stock rotation, storage and kitchen organisation

• Working effectively as part of the kitchen team

• Continuing to develop your skills under the guidance of experienced senior chefs

About you

• Have completed an apprenticeship or relevant Commercial Cookery qualification

• Be in the early stages of your career as a qualified chef

• Have sound basic cooking, food preparation and knife skills

• Be reliable, punctual and well organised

• Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Take pride in the quality and presentation of your food

• Be comfortable working in a busy commercial kitchen

• Work well as part of a team

• Understand food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness requirements

• Be available to work a flexible roster including evenings and weekends
