About the role
Kuga Electrical is seeking an experienced Power BI Contractor to join our team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in transforming raw data into actionable business intelligence that drives strategic decision-making across the organisation. Based in Keysborough, VIC, you will work on-site to deliver high-impact analytics solutions and reporting frameworks that support our business objectives. As a contractor, you will bring specialised expertise to enhance our data analytics capabilities and provide valuable insights that shape our operational and commercial strategies.
What you'll be doing
Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards tailored to meet stakeholder requirements and business needs
Extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from multiple sources to ensure data accuracy and consistency
Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Creating data models and establishing relationships to optimise query performance and reporting efficiency
Implementing data validation and quality checks to maintain the integrity of analytical outputs
Troubleshooting and resolving issues with existing reports and dashboards to minimise downtime
Documenting technical specifications, data dictionaries, and user guidelines for reporting solutions
Providing training and support to end-users on navigating and utilising Power BI reports
Staying current with Power BI updates and industry best practices to continuously improve solutions
What we're looking for
Proven expertise in Power BI, including proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and M language for advanced analytics
Substantial experience designing and deploying enterprise-level reports and dashboards
Strong knowledge of data modelling principles and SQL for querying relational databases
Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and optimise performance in complex environments
Experience integrating Power BI with various data sources such as Azure, SQL Server, Excel, and cloud-based platforms
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within scope in a contract or consulting environment
Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
Familiarity with electrical, manufacturing, or utilities industry data structures is desirable but not essential
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate are advantageous
