Disability Support Worker

Skill Builders is seeking a dynamic and capable Disability Support Worker!

We deliver self-actualisation and goal orientation in various domains of skill building.

We are fortunate to provide a flag ship vocational learning hub based in Yatala with the tools and resources to enhance any persons NDIS goals, from assistance with daily living tasks via real simulation rooms to a fully functional woodwork shop, and a digital technologies space to conceptualise, create and build anything!

Our focus is the person receiving support to actualise their goals and develop skills that will enhance their independence. We know it takes a quality human to walk alongside someone to make this happen.

Skill Builders is working with industry leading mentors and consultants to not only enhance consumer experience but workers employment journey as well.

Here are some prerequisites and expectations to Join the Skill Builders team

• A passion and enthusiasm to work with people with disabilities

• Highly motivated to make a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities

• Open mindset and adaptive thinking with solution focus

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: wood working, creative arts, business development, 3D printing, administration skills, resin art, painting and furniture restoration.

• Experience in working with people with dual diagnosis, mobility or complex needs.

• Experience with complex communication, non-verbal and Assistive technologies

• Report writing on paper based and digital platforms

• Ability to work 1:1 or in team dynamic

• Confidence and a sense of humour

Highly regarded certification, Experience or Qualification

• Cert IV disability

• Cert IV training and assessment

• Cert III individual Support

• Cert IV in community Services

• Business administration certification

• Social and micro enterprise experience

Relevant Probity

• Positive Notice yellow card or NDIS Worker screening check

• Completed NDIS worker Orientation modules

• First Aid and CPR certification

• An Open Queensland drivers’ licence

• A road worthy, reliable and insured vehicle

• Reliable communication device
